2010 Acura TL

Whatever you think of the new Acura TL's er, unusual styling, you've got to hand it to the boffins working on the car -- they're enthusiasts. Most luxury brands can boast no better than a low single-digit manual gearbox take-rate. Acura is one of those: It expects about 5% of its projected 70,000 TL sales per year, or 3500, to be sold with the stick. That's enough for those Acura boffins to argue for it, coming a year after the new TL's launch, due to the car's engineering development cadence. Honda management figured the stick might as well be scrubbed, however, and management still has 10-12 months to pull the plug if it so decides.
The six-speed manual will be available only with the 305-hp, 3.7L super-handling all-wheel-drive (SH-AWD) version of the TL. Engineers worked to get Acura's first SH-AWD manual's gearshift and clutch to feel as good as any front-drive Acura or Honda, with an 8mm shift throw, which it claims is shortest in the segment. The Acura engineers met their target: Clutch-pedaltakeup is even and progressive

Engineers worked to get Acura's first SH-AWD manual's gearshift and clutch to feel as good as any front-drive Acura or Honda, with an 8mm shift throw, which it claims is shortest in the segment. The Acura engineers met their target: Clutch-pedal takeup is even and progressive, saving you from lurches, and the gearshift feels as good as the Civic Si's.The six-speed manual is 88 lb lighter than the five-speed automatic, and Acura didn't alter the springs and shocks, so the car has a slightly stiffer ride. The car will cost the same as an automatic TL with the tech package, and 19-in. summer tires will be optional. How does it work? Very well, thank you. Besides the smooth shifting-action, the tri-pedal enhances the TL's sporting intentions. It felt fluid and easy to drive quickly around Honda's tight, technical 1.1-mile circuit at its Ohio proving grounds. Acura says your humble servant's best lap time of 1:43.2 was 2.7 sec better than a BMW 335ix provided for comparison, which was quicker than recorded times for an Infiniti G35, a 335i, and Audi S4, in that order. Whatever you think of the TL's looks -- and your opinion will be strong, guaranteed -- you must give Acura big credit for maintaining a manual gearbox option in a segment for which it has been all but abandoned.

2010 Acura Crossover

First time we saw the Acura’s X6 fighter was back in August, when it was spotted in Death Valley. In October we spotted the car already in the city of Nürburg.
Both cars spotted had a very heavy disguise, but when looking closely you could see that the top behind the B-part goes down like on the new BMW X6.
Rumor is that Acura is working on the new V8, that will power this new SAV. As Acura already has MDX, then speculation is the new crossover will be called MSX.
No one knows how the production model will look like, as the prototypes had a very heavy disguise. It’s always fun to speculate on future models. Take a look at two renderings below to see how the new Acura might look like according to an artist.

2010 Acura NSX

Honda is quietly confident the new NSX will outperform the R35 Nissan GT-R.
The team at Holiday Auto (Japan) are working very hard to bring the latest news about the upcoming Acura NSX and their latest report includes one or two surprises. The first of which is the 5.5L V10 engines adoption of VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) which is a direct result of increasing oil prices and Honda’s own desire not to be seen as a manufacturer which has no regard for the environment when it comes to high performance cars. Apparently the new 5.5L V10 will use VCM to shut down one bank of cylinders in constant speed driving situations which will reduce its capacity to 2.75 liters. The new V10 will be manufactured on a special line at Honda’s new factory in Saitama prefecture. Torque has been confirmed at 60.0kg/m and a massive output of 600ps through all four wheel is expected to be produced. You could say that the V10 is basically a 10 cylinder version of the LE-A 4500cc V8 which will power the next generation Acura RL, although the ‘V’ angle of the V10 will be 90 degrees whereas the V8 will be 72 degrees, making the NSX’s V10 truly unique. Special pistons and conrods, as well as a dry sump and fully balanced internals are other features of the new V10. The body of the NSX along with the RL will be assembled by specially trained craftsmen at a new plant being built in Ogawamachi, the reason being to allow parts sharing between the two models and to enable the same high level of build quality.

The other surprise is that Holiday Auto suggests the 5.5L V10 may make an appearance in a special Acura RL model! It remains to be seen whether such a car would affect the image of the NSX or not; you could say that a V10 RL would become a “4-door NSX” of sorts if it ever made it to production.

Despite a comprehensive equipment list and the heavy SH-AWD drivetrain the NSX is still expected to tip the scales at just under 1500kg. For a big two seater coupe that kind of weight is worth noting, especially considering the incredible performance of the much heavier Nissan GT-R. The aerodynamic package of the NSX is said to include front fender slits which will help expel air from the engine bay and reduce lift, as well as and underbody design incorporating the front bumper, side skirts and rear diffuser which will also help direct air from the engine bay and channel it under the car to the rear diffuser. Using knowledge obtained from their Formula One program the underbody aerodynamics in conjunction with the rear spoiler will dramatically reduce lift and add downforce which is said to make the car extremely stable at speeds up to and over 300km/h. The Acura NSX will follow its predecessor and have different sized wheels and tires, with Bridgestone RE070R 255/30R19 up front and 295/35R20 at the rear.Despite a comprehensive equipment list and the heavy SH-AWD drivetrain the NSX is still expected to tip the scales at just under 1500kg. As far as performance is concerned, the natural rival of the NSX is the R35 Nissan GT-R but this is not to say that it will be priced and optioned in a similar fashion. The upcoming Acura NSX is expected to sell for around 16,000,000 yen and its true rivals are said to be the Jaguar XKR and Aston Martin Vanquish. This of course means that the NSX will have much higher standard materials and fit and finish compared to the previous NSX and buyers will certainly feel that the asking price is justified. Being a true luxury sports car won’t impede on its abilities at the circuit though, once the Nissan GT-R’s time of 7:29.00 at Nurburgring has been achieved Holiday Auto say Honda are sure to continue on and try for a time faster than the Nissan GT-R Spec V!

IntroductionEvidently deciding that BMW and Infiniti must know something it does not, Acura is moving fast to jump on the hopped-up, all-wheel-drive hatchback trend with the 2010 ZDX, which debuted at the 2009 New York Auto Show in prototype form. The production version of the 2010 Acura ZDX is scheduled to land on showroom floors this fall, set to battle the BMW X6 and Infiniti FX for a piece of the 17,208 sales these two models racked up in 2008.
“Hopped-up, all-wheel-drive hatchback” is our term. Acura refers to the ZDX as a “luxury performance coupe,” but when we think of luxury performance coupes an image of a BMW M3 materializes from the gray matter. Nevertheless, Acura’s goal with the ZDX is to “blur the distinction between coupe, sedan and sport utility vehicle” while breaking new ground for the company in terms of “provocative styling, contemporary luxury and meticulous refinement.”

2010 Acura TSX V6

Scheduled to be available for sale in the middle of 2009, Acura has introduced its V6-powered variant of the TSX sports sedan at today’s Chicago Auto Show. It comes with the 3.5-liter V6 derived from the TL and RL which yields 280hp (209kW).
A stiffer suspension has been installed to compensate for the additional power yield together with new control setting for Acura’s Sequential SportsShift 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters derived from the F1. The wheels, which are wrapped with Michelin Pilot all-season rubber, are 18-inch aluminum. Besides bigger wheels, the TSX is made distinct from its 4-cylinder version by a slightly modified front face and V6 marking. The new TSX, like other Acura models, comes with a standard power monoroof, automatic climate control, high quality sound system with 7 speakers and is equipped with SM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth hands-free and USB and aux ports. Other options include satellite navigation, rearview camera and high-end sound system all coming in the Acura Technology Package. Together with the introduction of the V6 TS6, it was announced by Acura that most of their sedans and SUVs for the 2010 model year will receive updates. Photo gallery after the jump!
